Your sensitiveness to impressions from the outer world is conditioned by the use they can be to you personally. You see, hear, feel and taste what you want to. If you want to like a pie (because someone you love made it for you), it will actually taste to you like the best pie in the world. If you want to dislike a drawing (because someone you dislike drew it), it will look hideous to you. Your approach to things is far from scientific; you have to struggle to exercise an objective judgment – to see anything for its own sake, without the intrusion of some personal irrelevancy that alters your vision and therefore your judgment. If your best friend has the voice of a screech owl, you’ll think it music; and if your worst enemy were a Caruso, you’d actually believe he was singing off key. Depersonalization of the approach to life is what you need to study, if you are to see the world as it is and not see always in it a reflection of yourself. You probably think you are the fairest-minded person in the world, and may be as far as abstract justice is concerned. But in what reaches you through your senses, beware of the intrusion of personal biases. Let a spade be a spade. Even if it is digging your own grave, you can’t make it into a screwdriver by wishing you didn’t have to die!

You are more of a poet than a rational scientist, for your mind does not function in a strictly logical, linear fashion. The language of music, art, or poetry is natural to you, and you are also able to think in highly abstract and symbolic terms. Translating your thoughts and impressions into concrete, everyday language may be difficult for you at times and consequently you may appear less intelligent or at least less quick-witted and verbal than others. You can be somewhat absent-minded and you become so immersed in your own thoughts that you overlook things in your immediate, tangible environment. You are extremely open-minded and believe that anything is possible. Intangible or spiritual forces seem just as real to you as anything in the concrete world. Your imagination and your sympathetic understanding of other people are two of your greatest gifts.
